Mauritius Double Tax Treaty Update

Mauritius had had a busy period recently with a number of treaties being negotiated and or signed but not yet in place.  We highlight some of these here:

  • The protocol to the treaty with Barbados has now been signed on the 12 December, 2017;
  • Negotiations are ongoing with Zambia with regards to a protocol to the not yet signed treaty;
  • The Treaty between the Comores and Mauritius was signed on the 28th November;
  • The IPA between Cape Verde and Mauritius has been signed and approved;
  • The Treaty between Cape Verde and Mauritius has been signed and approved;
  • Negotiations with the Ivory Coast with regards to a treaty have now been concluded;
  • Negotiations between St Kits and Nevis and Mauritius are under way;

What is self-evident from all this activity is that Mauritius is continuing to place itself as the gateway to Africa and to conclude the agreements necessary to position itself optimally.
