Mauritius Business Facilitation Program

Ease of doing business is recognized the world over as a desirable attribute in trying to attract business into a jurisdiction. Over 10 years ago, the Business Facilitation Act 2006 (BFA) was introduced to improve the Mauritian business environment.  Several measures were introduced such as the cut down on paperwork and waiting time and introduction of the Silent Agreement Principle for applications processing; whereby, if an applicant has submitted an application for processing/approval and does not hear from the relevant authorities, the application is as per the above agreement considered to have been approved.

However, several years after the introduction of the BFA, and in order to keep pace with Mauritius’ economic evolution, the government and authorities came to the conclusion that the above changes were not sufficient.
